METHOD NOTES / Arm EMG
Record muscle activity.
How does gripping and releasing a ball become an analyzable record?
Method illustration, not measured results
What it records
Surface EMG records electrical signals associated with muscle activity. It helps observe activity timing and changes, but does not directly establish sleep state.
Its role in this study
In this project, participants grip and release a soft ball with their breathing. Arm EMG records associated muscle activity for comparison with synchronized EEG after lights off. This explains the method relationship; EMG values with insufficiently verified units are not plotted here.
Before interpreting
Electrode placement, contact quality, motion artifacts and analysis affect recordings. Failure to grip does not establish sleep, nor does EMG change alone prove product efficacy. The reference explains general principles and does not identify the equipment used in this study.
